Sunday is the day of the main festival. After spending a sleepless night guarding and venerating the patron saint in the house of the first clavario, he returns to the Church to perform the Mass in honor of San Joaquín.
Sunday is the day of traditional family meals, who gather in houses and restaurants in their best clothes to celebrate the main festival.
Once night falls, the procession takes place, where all the brothers accompany the anda of San Joaquín and his banner, presided over by the clavarios and the festival commissions. Solemn and exciting act that runs through the streets of our neighborhood and that brings tears to the surface when remembering all those xotximeras and xotximeras who left us, and time to commend themselves to him,
the glorious Saint Joaquin to help and protect us for another year.
Once the procession is over, the peak moment of the day arrives, when hundreds of xotximeros congregate inside the Church to sing the hymn to San Joaquín, our precious hymn that last year 2019 celebrated its 75th anniversary. The first bars sound and immediately a shiver runs through your whole body that makes your hair stand on end and ends with the long live San Joaquin that fills so much that it cannot be described with words. Feeling in its purest form.
To finish off the day, the traditional fireworks display is set off, in charge of one of the most important pyrotechnics in the country. Peñarroja pyrotechnics has delighted us year after year with these spectacular and colorful castles, but we should also highlight the magnificent “mascletás” both in broad daylight and at night. And of course, the unforgettable pyromusical show from a few years ago, and described by the xotximeros as one of the most important acts
that are remembered in the neighborhood.
At 00:00 a warning rocket is fired, to prepare for what will be another important day. Awnings, tables, drinks and other preparations for the brotherhood lunch on the day of the soul party.
