History

If we talk about history, identity and tradition, the San Joaquín rock meets these and many more adjectives. It was the 60s when a group of residents of the neighborhood would get together to have a snack on holidays and little by little a new illusion was taking shape and consecrating. Until in 1971 when the name of the San Joaquín club officially came to light. From this moment on, in order to prepare the bullfighting parades, they stayed to rehearse in the "garrofera" in the upper part of Barranco street.

Getting involved from day one, their desire was to have fun and live the festivities with enthusiasm, contributing everything they could to make them bigger. The first day, with the chupinazo they begin to liven up the climb to the bullpens, with the entrance of bulls and that inseparable brass band. At 9:00 a.m. every bullfighting day they play their instruments with the well-known "despertà", or those bullfighting days in which fun is guaranteed in the cadafal, property of the peña and with which they play the brass band every afternoon. Every day of the bull the parade is a classic when listening to the second thunderer that marks the departure of the bull.

Although if there is a special day that is the one that is given as his day, accompanied, how could it be otherwise, with that traditional bull that since 1971 was the main course and today continues to be one of the most anticipated bulls by his seriousness and trepidation. A whole legacy loaded with history and tradition that their ancestors left, and that the past festivities of 2020 celebrated their 50th anniversary, magnifying these festivities and taking the name of the San Joaquín rock to the highest.

More about the club...

The activity of the Peña San Joaquín in our festivities has been remarkable since its inception, surprising each year with many of its novelties. Among these we are going to highlight some of his most special contributions such as: "la cagà del meek", the parades and the carafal.

"Jacobero" from El Pilar

This is how spectacular the exhibition of Jacobero de la Peña San Joaquín was in 2022.
